GAINESVILLE - Dessece Pierre-Louis will see her son, Florida freshman defensive back Wondy Pierre-Louis, play in a college football game for the first time on Saturday.
The fourth-ranked Gators (11-1) will play Arkansas (10-2) in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.
Dessece flew from the family's home in Haiti to Miami, where she currently is staying with relatives.
Pierre-Louis had to go home to Haiti during the summer and almost didn't get to play for Florida after having visa problems.
He played his high school ball at Lely High School in Naples.
"My mom is coming," Pierre-Louis said. "I haven't seen her in so long, since I got back from Haiti.
"I've been dealing with it for four years, so I got used to it. But every time I see her it's kind of exciting."
Pierre-Louis has made an instant impact on the special teams this season, playing as a true freshman. Injury report. Receiver Percy Harvin (neck) and running back Deshawn Wynn (knee) missed practice Tuesday. Linebacker Earl Everett also was limited with an ankle injury.
"It's really not the head, it's just the neck," Gators coach Urban Meyer said. "It went numb on him. It's just real sore right now, stiff."
Meyer still is confident Harvin will play.
"I trust our doctors, and it's all positive," Meyer said. "He's so young. I think he's going to be ready by Saturday, but he's just got to practice, too."
Jarred Fayson and Brandon James took some of the snaps in Harvin's place. Andre Caldwell and Jemalle Cornelius also were shifted around a bit, if needed to take up some slack.
"We've got enough personnel," Meyer said. "It's just a young player with that kind of talent (Harvin has) you like him to practice more. Obviously, he wants to. You have to cage him down to have him not practice. I think we'll get something out of him (today), probably not full. He'll go Thursday."
Kestahn Moore will start if Wynn can't play. Kicking picture. Meyer still is uncertain who will kick on Saturday after some competition on Tuesday. Chris Hetland missed two more field goals in a 21-14 win at FSU, causing him to open the position back up.
"Does it frustrate me?" Meyer said. "Yeah. It does frustrate all of us. It frustrates the players. It frustrates all of us."
